Residential Pest Control

Guests can be fun but not if they are of the creepy crawling kind.

Whether you live in a house, an apartment or a condo, the thought of little critters crawling under your bed or in the kitchen can make it very uncomfortable to live in. Besides the comfort, pests are also a threat to your family’s health and safety. The pests usually feed on garbage and smaller insects and carry germs and harmful bacteria which infect humans by contamination through food and eating vessels. The droppings and moulted skin and shells also help to spread diseases like dysentery, asthma and eczema.

We Specialize in:

  • Cockroaches are reddish brown insects that can grow up to 5cm long. They live in cool damp areas behind stoves, in cupboards and in and around kitchen sink and drainage pipes. They are nocturnal creatures and can be sighted when turning on lights in kitchen. Their presence is also marked by their droppings and egg shells and a musky pungent odour.
  • Rodents like rats or mice often make their way into home through the garage or basements and can be seen scurrying in corners in search of food. They nest within walls and furniture and are the cause of a number of diseases.
  • Bees and wasps are winged insects that make their hives in damp spots on the ceiling of house. Bees form colonies for laying eggs and collectively attack any threat to their hives. Bees and wasps have a sting at the end of their tail which they use to stab and inject a venomous toxin.
  • Moths are dull brown flying insects with average wingspan of 2cm. They make their way into food grain containers to lay eggs in the grain or packaging material. They also feed on and damage clothing items and furniture fabric.
  • Earwigs are flattened oblique shaped insects with forceps like pincers on their tails. They feed on plants and insects and are often found in areas around the garden or drainage pipes.
  • Termites drill their way into wooden furniture and form colonies that survive by slowly eating their way into the wood. They are hard to detect and slowly weaken and ultimately destroy the wood leaving behind a powdery substance.
  • Beetles are small coloured insects that feed on fabric and smaller insects. They also consume wool, skins, furs, stuffed animals, hair and silk. Sometimes, they swarm into a house looking for shelter to avoid inclement conditions.

In order to ensure complete eradication of a household pest problem, it is important to call in an expert like the professionals from Just Bugs who can identify the exact species and suggest the appropriate solution.

Commercial Pest Control

As a business owner you just cannot take chances with pests.

The presence of cockroaches in a restaurant, bed bugs in a motel room, and rodents in a store house is unhealthy and unsafe for the workers as well as customers and may lead to major losses and damages. Also, it can impact the reputation of the business. A single negative review can create doubt in the minds of potential customers and so any pest problem needs to be dealt with swiftly and effectively.

We at Just Bugs have a long proven record of cost effective and reliable solutions for all pest problem in the commercial sector in and around Toronto. We specialize in pest removal at restaurants, motels, hotels, warehouses and grocery stores, and we have just the right customized plans to help you get rid of your bug problem. Our eco-friendly methodology ensures effective extermination while keeping the surroundings safe for people, plants and pets.

What We Do:

  • Identification – We make a thorough and detailed inspection of the facility to determine the type and level of infestation. Once the exact species has been identified, we re-examine the premises to look for areas of concentration and possible points of entry and exit.
  • Strategizing – Based on our findings, we setup monitors and traps to keep track of pest activity and identify the patterns of behaviour. This data is really helpful as it helps us in going to the root of the problem and coming up with simple long term solutions.
  • Implementation – We try to minimize the use of strong and toxic chemicals for killing pests and rather use our extensive knowledge of the creature’s biology and feeding/living habits to eliminate them. By implementing simple steps based on our inspection and experience in dealing with infestations, we reduce the time of implementation and hence the cost.
  • Activity Logging – It is important that the facility be monitored for presence of pests even after a pest control treatment to avoid relapse. We encourage our clients to participate in the process and provide them with a pest control log book and label binder to regularly take notes and inform us of any signs of return of the pest problem.

Our strategy includes following environment friendly techniques:

  • Identifying the pest’s food sources and eliminating them.
  • Making the facility uninhabitable for the pests by controlling temperature & humidity.
  • Baiting & trapping.
  • Obstructing all structural access points.
  • Thorough cleanup & sanitizing the premises.

Preventing, Detecting & Killing Bed Bugs

We Offer Bed Bug Equipment Rentals and More

Bed bugs are nocturnal creatures that feed on human blood while we sleep. They sense the presence of humans by their body heat and carbon dioxide levels which increase when we are asleep. Bed bugs can survive for weeks without meals and one feed takes only 10-15 minutes. Thus, bed bugs hitchhiking on luggage and clothing stay put for days or weeks till they sense a host, crawl out of the closets across the floor and up the leg of your bed in order to bite you. This is perhaps the best time to trap them.

Bed bug traps come in various types. Some traps attract the bed bugs by emitting CO2 patterns similar to human respiration and trap them in a polished tray. These low cost easy to install traps give off early warning if a bed bug infestation is detected and also even prevent fresh infestations.

Mattress encasements are another helpful tool for getting rid of bed bugs. The bugs are sealed within the encasements which they cannot escape from nor bite into and eventually they die of starvation. They are most efficient when placed after a bed bug treatment so that bed bugs that are not killed stay within the encasement and stop them from spreading.

Treating the room and objects with heat is another effective alternative. In this method, the temperature is increased to more than 50 degrees and maintained so for a couple of hours. The bed bugs are not able to survive the high temperature and even the eggs are rendered dead after the exposure. Heat treatment is considered the best means of getting rid of bed bugs as the bugs are not able to escape into their hiding holes.

Keep reading to find out what products Just Bugs has to offer to PREVENT, DETECT, and EXTERMINATE bed bug infestations while helping to PROTECT your belongings.

Step 1) Prevention

It is very difficult to get rid of bed bugs once they have established themselves in a home. Although they dwell in areas around the bed, pretty soon they spread to other parts of the house and attach themselves to furniture, bedding, baggage, boxes, and clothing. Their ability to survive for months without feeding makes them excellent survivors and makes bed bug detection and bed bug removal extremely difficult.

How to Stop Bed Bugs from Entering Your House:

Inspect all secondhand furniture, beds, and clothes for any signs of bed bug infestation before bringing them inside your house. Treat any suspected item with powders, spray or heat treatment equipment.

Cover your mattress with special encasements and check the encasements regularly for holes.

Reduce clutter around the bed to eliminate all possible places where bed bugs may hide.

Points to Consider While Travelling:

  • In hotels, do not place your luggage on the bed or floor and use luggage racks instead.
  • Check the bedding and mattress before sleeping for any signs of bed bug infestation.
  • On returning home, check your luggage and clothing for bed bugs and wash all clothing before putting into the closet.

Step 2) Detection

Finding bed bugs can be a real pain. They crawl into tiny cracks in floor, walls, bedposts and mattresses and can hide there for several days (up to a year) without food. It is almost impossible search for the buggers within these tight spots and kill them. But what if the bugs voluntarily make themselves visible and rather than the exterminator hunting bugs, the bugs themselves are drawn to the exterminator?

Nightwatch Bed Bug Detection Trap

This is a unique bed bug trap and monitoring device that emits carbon dioxide and a powerful pheromone to draw bed bugs towards it and traps them. The NightWatch trap makes us of knowledge of a bedbug’s physiology and their feeding habits to mimic the presence of a sleeping human being by creating similar CO2 patterns. The bed bugs mistake the source as a feeding host and are drawn towards it and fall into pit traps made of highly polished material that they cannot escape.

The device can also be used as a monitoring device to detect early stages of infestation which can otherwise be a tedious task. As it is extremely difficult to distinguish bed bug bites from many other pests, the verification of the presence of bed bugs before hiring a pest removal professional can make the process faster, easier and cheaper.

The monitors are also used to verify that a bed bug prevention treatment is working or not. Keeping the traps near a recently treated area for few days or weeks makes sure that bed bugs do not creep under a door or through a ceiling vent to spread to adjoining rooms.

Our rental units include two 20-ounce carbon dioxide (CO2) canisters as well as a synthetic pheromone packet that lasts for seven day minimum and costs $20 per day only.

Step 3) Preparation & Protection

So a bed bug infestation has been discovered and confirmed. Now what? You should start by inspecting the entire house to identify the area of infestation. Then try to collect a sample to help the pest control personnel correctly identify the bug. Be sure to thoroughly vacuum the area, and carefully dispose of the vacuum bag. After which you can treat the area with chemicals that are for killing bed bugs. But before you do so, you might want to protect your mattress with special encasements.

Mattress Encasements

Mattress encasements can be a potent means of protecting your bedding against bed bugs or during a bed bug treatment program.

Mattress encasements help in:

  • Sealing bed bug hiding spots.
  • Killing sealed bugs and eggs.
  • Early detection of bed bug infestation.
  • Protect the bedding from wear and tear.
  • Stopping the spread of bed bugs.

Mattresses should be kept in the mattress encasements for 18 months or longer during bed bug treatments, as bed bugs can survive for as long as a year without feeding.

Just Bugs provides only top quality Mattress Encasements by Millano.
